Pairs presenting tours: If I am supposed to separate your grade LET ME KNOW BEFORE YOU START. Otherwise, you will be awarded a common grade. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT "Demographic Field Work"
Interview yourself, family, friends about moves TO NYC, FROM NYC and WITHIN NYC. If you are not an immigrant/alien to USA, gather info about an ancestor that was. Ask the following questions about each move:

Where was the person living before the move?
Why did they leave that place?
Where did they move to?
Why did they move to that place?
How did they find that place (newspaper, family, word-of-mouth, realtor, etc)?

It should relatively easy to collect info for 8-10 contemporary moves. Try to get some that reflect the period 60-120 years ago. We'll discuss this info during the next two classes.
