I consider the student-led field trips we will have on 11/4 and 11/18 THE MOST IMPORTANT THING we are doing in this class. Why?? They give you an opportunity for original research and self expression in the real environment of NYC. They provide an opportunity to work with others (something we should have learned in kindergarten and not always easy but what work life is like for most of us!) They will provide added examples and reinforcement of principles taught in class after these principles have been digested by most of you. For most of you-and me- it will be enjoyable and we'll learn more about strange parts of this amazing city.
So, Get organized, get started! If you haven't communicated with your partner, do that ASAP! I am writing to the overall leaders for Nov 4 and Nov 18 with tips on how to organize you. Answer requests from your leaders ASAP. If you are pressed for time and field trip work conflicts with other assignments for this class, WORK ON THE FIELD TRIP. (Slacking off on this affects others besides yourself!)

Walks 9-12: These are examples of what I will be discussing in class but for the time being are voluntary. If you can go on any of them, fine- your reports will be useful in class. If you are pressed for time, I would rather you caught up on missed walks (clearly our common knowledge is exam material) and acted responsibly on your role in the field trips. But do the readings (easy with lots of pix!)
