FINAL EXAM: The final exam generates some conflicts no matter when it is held. It is now scheduled for 7:30-9:30 PM on Tuesday 12/19 in our classroom. Five students (Stacy, Tomoko, Debra, Ruth and Dwayne) have spoken to me about overloads or conflicts. I am looking into an alternate time on Weds. 12/27. At the final you will receive the Short Answer part of the exam first. This is entirely closed book. After you turn in the short answer part you will receive the essay part. For this you may use the NY @tlas, any class or reference notes in your own writing, including notes on mapbases that I handed out. !! DO NOT bring Xeroxed notes or xeroxed library material DO NOT bring other books besides the @tlas.!! You may copy other people's notes in your own handwriting (or even using someone else's handwriting!)
Suggestions: Organizing your material beforehand is important. Use notecards if you wish. Quality is more important than quantity. Maps are an efficient way to store much information. Try studying in groups! Try quizzing each other. Try guessing questions I might ask. When better students try tutoring weaker ones, everyone wins. (Teaching is learning!)

12/29/00 Party (begins 5PM, Friday @ 36-20 Bowne St #6C, Flushing. [the building was pointed out on Flushing walk, to reach #6C use entry door most to left and buzz intercom]; ends when I suggest you leave) Theme: "Asian Scavenger Hunt". At the party, participants will be randomly assigned items and places to retrieve Asian food and drink in Central Flushing. (Cost: about $12-15 each). We'll consume same in my apartment. All students are invited but, due to space limitations (about 18 people), NOT all can be accomodated. Reservations by e-mail, first-come, first-confirmed. A few of my own friends will also be invited. AT THIS TIME I CANNOT promise to accomodate spouses, dates, etc but I will inform you later if there is room. (Hey, this is MY party!) I will also maintain a "waiting list" if there is enough demand. So, if you want to come, just respond to this e-mail immediately letting me know that you want to come as 1 person or/only 2. (Is this fair or what?) Driving/subway-walking directions will be sent later.
