The "Beast" is actually a handsome prince who has been transformed by an enchantress into his present form of a beast. He is notorious amoung his servants for having a nasty temper... but if you had been turned into a wolfish, bearish thing... wouldn't ya be a little sore too? ;-) In order to break the spell the Beast needs to fall in love with a woman and earn her love in return.... but as the narrator says at the beginning, "who could ever learn to love a beast?"

Lumiere, the Beast's candelabra, is a hopeless romantic who along with the other servants enthusiastically helps the other servants in their attempts to bring Belle and the Beast closer together.

Cogsworth is the Beast's time keeper. He is the down to earth straight man in contrast to Lumiere. He too is hopeful that Belle will break the spell and is willing to do anything to help kindle the spark of romance between Belle and the Beast.

Mrs. Potts, voiced by the one and only Angela Lansburry, is the teapot. She too is an acomplice in the servant's plans to bring Belle and the Beast closer together.

Chip, Mrs. Pott's son, is the adorable and very loveable teacup who just can't see what all the other servants are so excited about. He doesn't understand "what's there" between Belle and the Beast, which promts a promise from Mrs. Potts to tell him "when he is older."

The villian! The overly muscled and egotistical Gastson, reasons that he is "gorgeous" and that Belle is beautiful, therefore he deserves her as his wife. He will stop at nothing to get her to marry him after she humilates him in front of the whole town... including leading a siege on the castle to kill the Beast.

LeFou, is Gaston's little side-kick, and helps Gaston with his plans to marry Belle.
